B-CU's Center for Law & Social Justice Director Dr. Randy Nelson Shares Right to Life for Black People on Let's Talk Nation

As the nation comes to terms with the latest tragic encounter between law enforcement and an unarmed Black male in Minneapolis, Minnesota, many of us fully recognize that it is not a matter of if another tragic event will occur, but a matter of when and where? For this reason, the Center for Law & Social Justice has and will continue its efforts to train, research, and develop strategies to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve, particularly those with a historical fear and distrust of law enforcement.   

The law enforcement efforts to develop and strengthen community relations prior to a tragic incident, will significantly influence the local community's view and perception of law enforcement.  Rightly or wrongly, negative events may occur in one geographical location, but the ramifications can be felt by law enforcement and communities hundreds of miles away. 

To this end, B-CU’s Center for Law & Social Justice will remain a national leader in both thought and action relative to law enforcement recruitment, training, development, and community engagement strategies. Furthermore, we will continue to create and leverage the Center’s partnerships with state and national organizations, to include the Florida Sheriffs Association, National Association of Black in Criminal Justice (NABCJ) and National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), as well as esteemed research faculty from Florida A & M, Florida State, and Texas Southern Universities.
