Dr. Shams Rahman Joins Network of Diverse Scholars

Dr. Shams Rahman, assistant professor, Department of Public Health and Health Equity in the Petrock College of Health Sciences, was selected and sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWFJ) to attend its annual New Connections Symposium. According to the RWJF, the New Connections program attempts to build a supportive network of diverse scholars from historically underrepresented groups working in fields that intersect with health and health care. New Connections supports a broad network of early career researchers who are interested in RWJF’s goal of building a national Culture of Health to enable all in our diverse society to lead healthier lives, now and for generations to come. Given their research pursuits, New Connections scholars are well-positioned to make an indelible impact on finding programmatic and community-based solutions to these healthcare challenges. They have the potent mix of passion, knowledge, and ideas to make a difference. The New Connections Symposium, was held earlier this year at Drexel University in Philadelphia.
