World-Renown Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble to Take the Stage at B-CU Performing Arts Center

Event: Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble
Date: Wednesday, April 25, 2018
Time: 7 p.m.

Join us at the Bethune-Cookman University Performing Arts Center as we present the incomparable Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 7 p.m.

Currently celebrating its 47th Anniversary Season, Denver-based Cleo Parker Robinson Dance is an international, cross-cultural, dance-arts and educational institution rooted in African American traditions, dedicated to excellence in instruction, performances and community programs, for inter-generational students, artists and audiences.

“We are very fortunate, as it has been over 25 years since the ensemble has performed at our campus,” said Alicia Scott, executive director, Bethune Cookman University Performing Arts Center (PAC). “Cleo Parker Robinson is a Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune enthusiast and highlights that much of her creative inspiration as a woman of color is largely connected to the life of Mrs. Bethune. She has desired to return for many years and the opportunity was afforded through a grant from South Arts to us.”

Cleo Parker Robinson Dance is guided by the vision of dance as a universal language of movement - celebrating performance, individual expression, healing and peace - thereby transforming the world into a sanctuary which transcends boundaries of culture, class and age. Cleo Parker Robinson Dance is committed to honoring diversity and inclusiveness throughout the global community.

The showcase on April 25, 2018 at 7 p.m. featuring the dance company will include a collaboration with B-CU Orchesis dancers and Concert Chorale with the Campbell Middle School Concert Choir. The two dance pieces are titled "Spiritual Suite," which highlights the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 50 years since his assassination, and "On The Edge" which is an all-male dance ensemble that communicates the struggles of modern day Black males.
