Mt. Zion AME and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Legacy Committee to Hold University Fundraiser

Spurred by a desire to secure the university’s future, Daytona Beach’s Mount Zion AME Church and the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Legacy Committee will host a fundraising drive to benefit need-based scholarships at B-CU.

The organization's goal is to raise monies for the B-CU Scholarship Fund during a celebratory worship and prayer service for incoming students. The Convocation was conceived by newly-installed pastor Reverend Wendell C. Webster and longtime B-CU volunteer Mr. Fred Beneby.

“Community partnerships have long been a part of the legacy of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. Her Sunday afternoon meetings would bring individuals from across Daytona Beach to address the most pressing needs of the day. The Legacy committee has reached out to the University with their desire to address the financial needs of B-CU students during this special Sunday service at Mt. Zion AME Church,” said Vice President of Institutional Advancement Dr. Clifford Porter. Click to read more.

The event will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019, at 10 a.m. Attire is casual and lunch will be served.
