Are you stressed about finals week? Don’t worry, we have five study hacks that will help you knock out your final exam and leave you stress free for the summer.

1. SLEEP. No matter how much coffee, Monsters, Red Bull, or 5-hour Energy drinks you consume, nothing compares to a good night’s rest. The energy drinks will give you a quick jolt of energy but it’ll only lead to a hard crash. Pulling all-nighters does nothing but strain the brain. There is no possible way to retain all that information and then repeat it effectively without sleep.

2. PRIORITIZE. What last minute assignments are due first? How long will it take you to complete the assignments? I would suggest you to complete the assignments that take the least amount of time first. That way you can focus on the bigger task at hand and devote 100% of your thought process to the bigger assignments.

3. ELIMINATE YOUR DISTRACTIONS. Technology has made it easy for us to simply press the DO NOT DISTURB button on our phones. Trust me! I would take it even as far as putting your phone in a different room. If you have access to your phone, you’ll want to touch it, and eventually you’ll end up scrolling through twitter and we all know Instagram will take your study session into a brain warp of page after page.

4. ENCOURAGE YOURSELF. Write yourself encouraging notes. You are your biggest fan. Leave yourself positive notes through the course of the week that will keep you motivated and enthusiastic about taking that last test. A few examples would be: “You got this!,” “One more week until the beach!,” “I believe in you!” Pain is temporary, but GPA is forever!” Who knows that GPA will carry you all the way to Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Suma Cum Laude OR thank you for allowing me the opportunity to pass and enter the working world!?!

5. TAKE A BREAK. Put the book down, step away from the computer. Go outside and get refreshed by taking 30-60 minutes and do something fun. Watch a comedy series, enjoy the outdoors, take a walk with your friends. The sun shining, the fresh air, the birds chirping; these are all things that replenish you. If not, you’ll turn into a brain fried zombie.

I wish you the best of luck during finals week. I know you can do it! I believe in you.
