Jacari Harris to Intern with State of California Junior U.S. Senator Kamala Harris
I am excited about interning at Senator Kamala Harris' Los Angeles Office. Senator Harris has spent her life fighting injustice, standing up and advocating for those who could not defend themselves. As a soon-to-be Angelino, I wanted to help be the change in an economy that is moving rapidly. Since taking office, she has introduced and co-sponsored legislation to raise wages for working people, reform our broken criminal justice system, make healthcare a right for all Americans, address the epidemic of substance abuse, support veterans and military families and expand access to childcare for working parents.
As an intern, I will be able to conduct research, draft memoranda, prepare for hearing and committee meetings, evaluating court decisions, legal trends, identify trends within our economy, plan, organize and execute community and state-wide projects, and work directly with the main office in Washington D.C. and California district offices. After completing three intensive interviews, I am grateful that they selected me among the thousands of applications that are received on a yearly basis.
Without Bethune-Cookman University and the Southern California B-CU Alumni Chapter, I wouldn’t have this opportunity.
