Jatwon Burkes Studies at MSU Summer Research Opportunities Program

Jatwon Burkes is a rising junior at B-CU engaged in the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) at Michigan State University. Burkes' research project will involve using and adapting computer vision techniques and employing deep neural networks to track the motion of children, adults, and small animals. These motion time-series will be used in studies of attention for autistic children and child development, neurological disorders and brain activity for animals. The West Palm Beach, Florida native enjoys his involvement in the B-CU Robotics Club.

The Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) is a gateway to graduate education at Big Ten Academic Alliance universities. The goal of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented students who pursue graduate study and research careers. SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.
